After spotting an article over at Dosh Dosh titled, Make Money With Templates i was immediately drawn to the topic and was not disappointed by the content at all.

So why was i drawn to the topic?

In May, last mounth template sales accounted for around 60% of my monthly income meaning that my total income from template sales peeked at the $1000 dollar mark. Whats more interesting is that i give none of that away to publishers like template monster nor do i spend any money on advertising the website as it has retained the number one spot in google for my chosen niche for almost three months now.

So how did i make one thousand dollars in May from one source?

It will be a surprise to you when i reveal that i only sell two templates both of which i created but why do these templates succeed? - The software they are aimed at have a distinct lack of quality templates with no real support to back them up - this is where i step in. I don’t think it would be wise of me to jump into telling you the niche inwhich i sell these for but to give you a quick example of the type of software, i’ll say that it is something similar to ’shopping cart skins / templates.’

How much do i sell my templates for?

If you are a regular at Digital Point or any other web master forum then you will have undoubtably seen the ‘free templates’ or buy 200 templates for $6 offers that go around. I sell one for $100… yes thats right and there is a slow but steady stream of buyers for this type of template.

There are some extra figures on that screenshot lower than the stated price of my template, these are support issues and work done on other peoples websites such as installing the template or creating a logo to match ect.. The largest figure of $280 was for two templates plus install and modification which took me around 30minutes to complete.

How many visitors do i get to make $1000 a month from templates?

Well it’s alot less than 1000 unique visitors a month but i did attach another image for those of you who are interested in seeing the visitor counts. Whats worrying is the drop in visitors towards the end i know as this niche is discovered that my earnings will dry up from this source .

Whats next for me?

It’s only a matter of time before a niche is discovered which means that my next step in my online money making venture is affiliate marketing

I know this post is not as revealing as you may of been expecting but i hope it gives you an insight into how important choosing the correct niche is and the different ways that niche can be monetized not just by having website content but providing design, support and a variety of services.

I admire internet moguls such as John Chow and Everton Blair not only for their success but for their journey in getting to where they are now.
